Contractor of the Year

In 2000, the NCA started its "Contractor of the Year" awards program to recognize excellence and leadership in construction based on safety record, professionalism, project challenges and industry contribution.  This is the construction community's most celebrated event.  It is also the highest honor a Nevada contractor can receive.  Open to all NCA members in good standing, firms have an opportunity to compete in a number of categories.  The winners are announced at the annual awards luncheon event.

2011 Nevada 'Contractor of the Year'

Aggregate Industries - SWC Inc.

The Southwest Region of Aggregate Industries consists of Southern Nevada Paving, Frehner Construction, Bardon Materials and Southern Nevada Readymix. Founded in 1858, Aggregate Industries is a U.K.-based global aggregates, construction and building materials firm. The company was listed on the London Stock Exchange until Swiss-based rival Holcim purchased the firm in 2005 for $3.4 billion. Aggregate acquired Southern Nevada Paving and Frehner in 2003 and 2004, respectively. The duo co-owned the 530-acre Sloan Mountain quarry with 650 million tons of limestone reserves. Aggregate, as a result, has become a major player with several projects underway, including a $34.4 million, 12-mile-long Sahara Avenue upgrade between Hualapai Way and Boulder Highway. The project will create dedicated bus transit lanes, while adding new shade shelters and landscaping. Work will finish in early 2012.
