NCA’s Inaugural Jack Schaefer “Big Swing” Golf Tournament Huge Success

The Nevada Contractors Association held its 1st annual Jack Schaefer “Big Swing” Golf Tournament on Saturday, May 14, at the Palm Valley Golf Course in Sun City Summerlin. Nearly 200 people turned out to enjoy the festivities, which included raffle prizes, contests and a barbecue awards luncheon. Money raised from the event will go to Safe Nest, among other charities. The event is named after Jack Schaefer who helped launch the association in 1995; Schaefer recently died from pancreatic cancer at age 64.

“This was a special event recognizing the passing of our friend while also raising money for worthy causes,” said Nevada Contractor Association Executive Director Sean Stewart. “At the same time, it gave everyone a chance to visit and have fun with friends, family and colleagues.”

The Ritchie Bros Auctioneers team of Jim Rotlisberger, Warwick Mackrell, Bruce Jordon and Sam Myers took home top honors with a combined score of 54 followed closely by runner-up Perini Building Co. and Werdco BC in third place. The tournament additionally featured hole-in-one competitions sponsored by Gaudin Ford, Findlay Honda and Chapman Dodge; golfers consequently had three opportunities to drive home with either a new Ford F-150 crew-cab truck, a Honda Civic or a Dodge Charger.

Meanwhile, Aggregate Industries-SWR sponsored the first place prize while Ritchie Bros Auctioneers and the Southern Nevada Painting and Decorating Contractors Association sponsored the second and third place prizes, respectively. The closest-to-the-pin competition was sponsored by M.J. Dean Construction, while BeneSys Administrators underwrote the longest drive challenge.

Door prizes sponsors included: APCO Equipment, Dona Maria Family Restaurants, Par 4 Golf Management. Closest to the Pin was sponsored by M.J. Dean Construction, Inc. and Longest Drive-BeneSys Administrators.

Breakfast and lunch was provided courtesy of Health Plan of Nevada, Cashman Equipment, Chevron of America, Pro Petroleum, Inc., Ferrari Public Affairs, Sinclair Oil, APCO Equipment, L.E.C.E.T. of Southern Nevada, Stewart Environmental.
